The mechanical biological treatment (MBT) system consists of a mechanical sorting system, a biological anaerobic digestion (AD) system and a sewage treatment system. It is generally used for the treatment of MSW or kitchen waste with more than 40% organic content.
The mechanical sorting system sorts out recyclables like paper, plastic and metals. The biological process includes aerobic decomposition, anaerobic digestion, or a combination of the two for biomass waste. The sewage treatment system will treat waste water so the leachate generated during anaerobic fermentation meets drinking water safety standards.
